Listed below are the updated COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantining Policies from the Department of Health.
Isolation and Quarantining Policies: Burlington County Department of Health
If someone tests positive: (Please note that the day of symptoms onset is day 0, if asymptomatic day 0 is the test date)
- They should stay home for at least 5 days from the start of symptoms and isolate from others in their home.
Ending isolation is based on how serious the COVID-19 symptoms were:
- If they have no symptoms
- They may end isolation after day 5 but continue to wear a mask through day 10.
- If they have symptoms and:
- The symptoms are improving
- They may end isolation after day 5 if they are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) but should continue to wear a mask through day 10.
- If the symptoms are not improving
- They should continue to isolate until:
- They are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication).
- They symptoms are improving.
- Wear a mask through day 10.
If someone is a close contact, it is recommended to:
- Wear a mask as soon as they find out they were exposed.
- Test at day 6 (or as soon as symptoms appear).
- If positive, isolate immediately and follow above directions.
- If test negative, continue to wear a mask through day 10 and test if symptoms begin.
