Check Out Caroline South's Artwork HERE!
Caroline South has challenged herself to organize found objects in interest ways inspired by color and value.
https://theultralinx.com/2017/10/this-artist-arranges-everyday-objects-in-the-most-satisfying-ways/
Color- the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness of the reflected light; saturation or chroma; hue.
Value- the relative lightness or darkness of a color. It is an important tool for the designer/artist, in the way that it defines form and creates spatial illusions. Contrast of value separates objects in space, while gradation of value suggests mass and contour of a contiguous surface.
#23 Love art but can’t afford the original? Make your own! Recreate your favorite painting or sculpture by dressing up with things you have in your house.
These are so fun and creative. Check it out!

#25 Field Day is coming up, why not combine Field Day and Art?! If you choose the “Paper Plane Corn Hole” activity for Field Day you will need to create and decorate 3 paper airplanes to use for your game. Design your paper, fold your planes, add any additional decorations, photograph them, and use them for Field Day.
#26 Create a THANK YOU card for a teacher or school staff member who really influenced you or who you want to say “thank you” to. If can be a current teacher, past teacher, custodian, nurse, lunch aide, classroom aide, special subject area teacher, secretary, or an administrator. Make 1 or more than 1 to spread the love.
These can be dropped off when your parents pick up your classroom supply bags during the last week of school. No photographs of Thank You cards need to be taken, emailed, or uploaded to Artsonia, these are for the recipient's eyes only. Also, I'd advise that no gifts, gift cards, or personal items be included in these cards as they will not be secured at night and teachers may not receive them until later in the summer.
#27 Special Assignment: Medical Heroes Thank You Cards for Mrs. Davis
Check out the Special Assignment HERE
Our wonderful 4th Grade teacher, Mrs. Davis, is collecting Thank You cards for medical workers (heroes) in the Covid units at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. This is one of the hardest-hit hospitals in the country so you can draw whatever you think will lift the nurses’ and doctors’ spirits and make them feel loved and appreciated for all that they are doing to keep our country as safe as possible.
All Thank You cards will be delivered virtually so they can be photographed with the cover and the interior and emailed to Mrs. Davis at [email protected]. If you choose this activity just email me your art log for participation credit, you do not need to upload pictures of Thank You cards to Artsonia. Let’s lift some spirits and let our front-line workers know how much we appreciate them.
All digital cards are due to Mrs. Davis by May 27th at 3:00pm but can be sent to her anytime before that.
