Reading Workshop

During reading students will be participating in reading workshop.

Each Reading Workshop session will begin with a mini lesson that focuses on a particular strategy.  Examples include: visualizing, inferring, and making connections to the text.

We will then proceed to independent reading, where the children read independently, practicing the skill from the mini lesson, meet with reading partners, confer with me, or meet and read with a small group of students with teacher support. 

Students will be participating in guided reading groups, whole class novels, and literature circles.  

Students are expected to have a chapter book with them each day in class.
