Classroom Policies and Procedures

Behavior Policy:

Our class rules will be created together and posted in the classroom. If a student misbehaves and breaks a rule, he or she will refer to the classroom behavior chart. The chart contains a green, yellow, red, and white card for each child. The student's goal is to keep the green card in his or her pocket of the chart. Students will have a chance during the day to correct their own behavior and earn their green card back.

The following consequences are posted in the classroom:

1st offense: verbal warning (no card change)

2nd offense: change card on chart (yellow) and loss of a privilege

3rd offense: change card on chart (red) and note/call home

*Please note that the teacher reserves the right to report any type of misbehavior to the main office. A call home may be made at anytime.

Good Behavior is Rewarded in Room 503:

---Classroom Marbles Jar

The students will work together as a class to earn marbles in our classroom marbles jar. Marbles will be added to the jar when good behavior is "caught" by the teacher. Filling the jar will result in a class prize or privilege!

---Grip It Ticket Program

Students will earn tickets throughout the school year. This will be an individual rewards program. Students can earn tickets in a variety of ways, such as demonstrating good behavior, staying on task, lending a helping hand, and showing good character. Once a student collects the required amount of tickets, they are eligible to receive a prize from the prize box.

---I Was Caught BEE-ING Good!

Students can reward other classmates when they are caught "bee-ing" good. If a student sees a classmate doing something nice for someone or being a good CHARACTER, he or she can fill out a CHARACTER ticket for that classmate. At the end of each month, we will read the CHARACTER tickets as a class and two ticket holders (one boy and one girl) will be chosen randomly to receive a prize!

Other Classroom Procedures:

---"Oops I didn't turn in my homework" Missing Homework Form

Homework will be given to the students Monday-Thursday most weeks. Please review your child's agenda book, as well as our class homework webpage to see what is assigned each night.

If a student forgets to do the homework, he or she must fill out a "Missing Homework Notice" form, which can be found in the classroom. The form requires a PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGNATURE. If the missing homework is returned to school completed the next day, partial credit will be given. After 2 days of not turning in the assignment, a zero will be given.

---"We Missed You" Form/Student Absences

Upon a student's return to school after being absent, he or she will receive a "We Missed You" form. The form will list all of the assignments that need to be completed. For each day a student is absent, they have a day to make up the work (i.e. if a student is absent for two days, they have two days to make up the work).
