A red poster with white text encourages people to use libraries and learn.

Students will visit the library once a week for Library Media class and for "book exchange".
Library Skills Content
Elementary students take library skills classes throughout the year. The skills introduced and developed include:

  • Book Care
  • Borrowing a library book
  • Authors and Illustrators
  • Organization of the library
  • What is fiction?
  • What is non-fiction?
  • Parts of a book
  • Types of books
  • Reference materials
  • Research activities
  • How to use technology appropriately
  • STEM and Literature

Every year I ensure that students are given many opportunities to create with materials. It could be building a tower, designing a ferris wheel, parachute or covered bridge. All students enjoy these projects (and so do I...)
