Reading- This month groups are researching natural disasters: Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Hurricanes, and Tornadoes. Groups will present their research in a Google Slide presentation. We will also learn about nonfiction author techniques.
Writing- Students are busy crafting convincing arguments in their essays. We are learning all about persuasive writing. Students are learning how to support their claims with a variety of evidence. This fun writing unit will conclude with students typing their persuasive writing, and sharing it with their audiences.
Math- We continue to study fractions. We are also relating fractions to decimals, and learning about metric measurement.
Science- Our class is investigating the range of tolerance for organisms, such as brine shrimp. We will also conduct a virtual investigation on Trout. We will also study have variations in population (traits like color) help organisms survive.
Social Studies- Towards the end of the month, we will be learning about The Age of Exploration. We will learn about the motivations for Europeans to come to the New World. Also we will learn about tools for exploration, and the new products Europeans discovered in the New World.
