A is for…

Attendance- Please notify the school if your child is going to be absent.

 

 

 

B is for…

Book orders- about once a month, a Scholastic book order form will come home. This is a great way to purchase books, while helping our class earn points toward our classroom library!

C is for…

Communication- please feel free to contact me by e-mail, call me at school, or send a note in with your child if you have questions or concerns at any time.

 

 

D is for…

Dismissal- school ends at 3:30. You must send in a note to school if your child is to go home a different way than his/her normal way. If you forget to write a note or plans change, please call the office and let them know of the change.

E is for…

Email- My email is [email protected]  I check my email frequently and will respond as soon as possible.

 

F is for…

Folder- Please make sure your child brings their red homework folder to school everyday. 

 

 

G is for…

Gym- Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately on the days that we have Gym.  Wear sneakers!

H is for…

Homework- your child will have spelling and math homework Monday through Thursday. It must come back to school the next day in your child’s folder. In addition, each child is required to read for at least 15 minutes every night.

I is for…

Important information- if you have any important papers that need to come to school, please send them in your child’s folder, as these are emptied daily.

J is for…

Jobs- Your child will be designated a day each month and will complete many jobs for the day.  Some jobs are line leader, messenger, calendar, meteorologist, room monitor.  This will teach the students responsibility. 

K is for…

Kindness- we will practice being kind to others every day. We are “bucket fillers” in this class and our school has a zero tolerance policy for bullying.

L is for…

Lunch- our lunch/recess time is from 11:00 until 11:45. In first grade we do have snack. If your child will be buying lunch, please send their money in an envelope labeled with their name and class.

M is for…

Morning Meeting-Every morning we will have Morning Meeting.  This includes a greeting, share time, and activity, and a message about our day!

N is for…

Nurture- It is important that you and I work as a team to help your child grow academically and emotionally this year. Lots of exciting things will occur in 1st  grade.

O is for…

Outside- The students will be going outside for recess.  Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather and wearing comfortable shoes, suitable for running and climbing.

P is for…

Parent/Teacher Conferences-  Parent/Teachers Conferences are in November and March. 

Q is for…

Quality- expect the students to always do their best work.  Please encourage your child to hand in quality work!

R is for…

Report Cards- Report cards are sent home 3 times a year, at the end of the trimester period.  Please sign the report card envelope and return each time.  The report card is yours to keep.

S is for…

Supplies-School supplies for the school year are listed on my webpage.  Please put extra supplies in a gallon size Ziploc bag labeled with your child's name.

T is for…

Tardies- students should be at school no later than 9:00! If your child is late to school, please be sure they sign in at the Office with Mrs. Romano.

U is for…

Unity- our school will participate in a unity program designed to promote positive behavior and a unified school! We are bucket fillers at PMS! J

V is for…

Volunteers- A perfect opportunity for you to volunteer is through our Mystery Reader program.  Please let me know if you are interested in helping.

W is for…

Writing- We will be doing lots of writing this year! It’s amazing to see how much each child’s writing skills grow over the year!

X, Y, and Z are for…

I am eXcited to work with You and Your child this year! Make sure he/she gets plenty of Zzzzs each night. We have very busy and exciting days in first grade!
