Procedures

Snack

We will have a 15 minute snack each morning.  We are not scheduled to eat lunch until 1:00pm so please be sure to pack a small healthy snack each day.  We have a water fountain in the classroom but feel free to send a drink along with snack.  Please place the drink and snack in a separate bag so it is not confused with any “lunch items”.

 

Lunch

Lunch can be brought in or purchased from school for $2.55 per day or in advance.  It is much easier for the children if lunches are purchased in advance.  If you purchase lunches in advance, a lunch ticket will be issued and student identification number to track lunch purchases.  Purchasing bulk lunches can be done by sending in a labeled envelope with the amount of lunches you wish to purchase along with payment or through the school’s website.  Daily money must be sent in a clearly labeled envelope or zip-lock bag. Milk is also available for purchase at $.60 daily.  Milk cannot be purchased in advance. 

 

**Please note that if you send your child to school with a twenty dollar bill he/she will not be bringing home change.  The money is sent to the cafeteria first thing in the morning and it is put in your child’s account.

 

Rest time

There will be a 20 minute quiet time after lunch.  At this time your child will have the opportunity to rest his/her head on the table or spread out a towel or blanket on the carpet.  If your child wishes to spread out a towel or blanket please send one in and label.  At this time I will be calling groups back for guided reading.  If your child is not in the guided reading group he/she will have the opportunity to quietly read from his or her “Book Buddy Bag” filled with books on his/her “just right level”.  The students really seem to enjoy this part of the day.  They love to curl up with a good book and relax.

 

Clothing

The children go outside for recess everyday (weather permitting).  It is important to dress your child according to the weather.  If it is warm outside, be sure that your child wears light clothing and if it is cold outside please make sure your child wears a jacket/coat.  Sneakers or closed toe shoes are preferred for safety reasons.

 

Also, please send in a change of clothes in your child's backpack.  Please remember to update them as the seasons change.  You never know when a child may have an accident or spill juice/milk.  If your child does not have a change of clothes, then you will be contacted to bring a change of clothes to school.  

 

No Toys

Please, Please, Please make sure that your child leaves all personal belongings at home unless it is his or her sharing day.  The students will not be given time to play with stuffed animals, dolls, cars, etc.  The school is also not responsible for broken or lost videogames.   

 

Contact Information

It is VERY IMPORTANT that we have the correct contact information for your child.  If there is a change in address or phone numbers throughout the year, please inform the school (and me) of the changes.

 

School Dismissal

If for any reason there is a change in your child’s dismissal, please send a written note to inform me of the change.  In the case of a last minute change, please DO NOT leave me a voicemail message.  Make sure you inform someone in the main office of the change.  Mrs. McBride can be reached at (609) 298-2600 ext. 4112.

 

Reminders

• LABEL, LABEL, LABEL everything!  This avoids confusion or loss of items. 

 

• Please make sure your child brings a book bag/backpack and their red Peter Muschal School folder to school each day.

 

• If you are visiting our classroom for any reason, please stop in the office to sign in.
