Book Fish

Reading every night is ESSENTIAL in First Grade.  Although I do not require each child to complete a reading log, it is important that your child is engaged in readingfor at least 15 minutes each night.  In order to help encourage this behavior, our class is going to begin the Book Fish Reading Program. Your child will be allowed to fill out a book fish each time he or she reads a book. If your child reads chapter books, then he or she may fill out a book fish for each chapter read. The book fish must be filled out completely with the title of the book, the author, the date read and aparent signature.  Students will then be allowed to bring in the book fish and add it to our classroom fish bowl.  At the end of the week, I will pick out one lucky book fish from the bowl.  The person that filled out the book fish will get a reward. So, the more students read, the better chance they have of getting their fish pulled out on Friday. 

       Please be sure to have your child fill out all of the information and cut out the fish before returning it to school.  Blank book fish will always be available in our classroom for your child.
